Attend an event…

Sidney got to school late today because the home nurses came unexpectedly this morning.
As we walked towards his classroom I could see the kids had just sat down to start their Maths lesson. His teacher spotted us, jumped up and met us outside. She said “Sidney, I think there’s some people inside who want to see you” 🥹
He sheepishly walked into his Year 1 class and all of the kids jumped up yelling “Sidney’s back!!”. They cheered and huddled around him asking 101 questions about Brandon and Melbourne. They were so happy to see him 😭 The smile on his face was priceless.
I instantly teared up.
Gosh this has been a hard season. But having so many people that love and care about all of us has been the most beautiful thing to witness.
His teacher told me that the kids were asking about Sidney again yesterday and they said “ok, we need to keep praying for Sidney’s Dad” 🙏
Honestly, I cannot thank you all enough.
A little update on everything:
The next 4-6 weeks will likely still be challenging as Brandon continues to heal. If you see him walking around town you will notice he has some tubes hanging out of his body. He has a wound vac on his leg to continue to drain anything out as the incision slowly closes and he has an IV in his arm so he can receive antibiotics for 4-6 weeks to ensure the staph doesn’t return. We will have home nurses visiting daily. His right knee is really painful for some reason, fingers crossed it dissipates quickly.
Moving forward:
- I hope our spirited and active kids can remember to be gentle with Dad and to not jump on him 😣
- I hope Brandon can get quality rest, without sweating profusely at night (so I too can rest 😅).
- I will be returning to work Tuesday so if anyone wants to hang out with Sierra anytime Tuesday-Thursday so Brandon can rest that would be amazing.
- And of course, we hope this vein can provide adequate blood flow long term to Brandon’s leg.

‼️ ⚠️ Warning - some graphic footage ⚠️ ‼️
Alright everyone - update time.
There are much more graphic photos of his open wound, but I’ll spare you. Message Brandon if you want to see them @beingbk
20 days in Monash Hospital 🏥
An overview of everything:
✨ May 1st - Upon arrival we were told if Brandon didn’t go to the hospital he would have been dead within a month due to: a Staph infection in his blood, a pseudoaneurysm in his femoral artery that could implode anytime causing him to bleed out and an infected hematoma and artificial femoral bypass 😔
✨ May 7th - Surgery was successful. 7-8 long.
✨They removed the staph infected hematoma and femoral bypass through his stomach and left leg. The 3 deep incisions in his left leg were left open to ensure all infection cleared up.
✨Harvested a long vein from right leg to use as bypass in left leg - the incision is the length of his leg.
✨ 126 staples in stomach and right leg.
✨ Some infection presented in large incision in left groin area.
✨ May 13th - another surgery to remove small stents in his urethra (they put them in to ensure they didn’t cut through his urethra in surgery) and they also cleaned out the infection.
✨ Blood transfusion to help lift his hemoglobin levels.
✨ CRP (inflammatory marker) normal range is between 0-10. In Feb it was 250 and it was very high when we arrived. It is now 35 and dropping 🥳
✨They put a wound vac on the large incision and it is healing nicely so far.
✨ Since Feb he has lost 20kg! Thankfully his appetite has now returned.
✨He is up and walking 7000-8000 steps a day at the hospital now.
✨ They removed half of the staples yesterday, the rest should go today.
✨ He will continue to receive IV antibiotics for 4-6 weeks.
✨ He has been cleared by the doctors and can be discharged when Albury is ready to continue care. In Albury they will continue to administer IV antibiotics and complete wound care.
So Brandon should be discharged in the next 2-3 days and we can all go back to Albury 🙌
Many have asked about the kids and I. We have all be in Melbourne staying with my wonderful cousin and family about 35-40 mins away from the hospital.
♥️ and appreciate you all!!

Alright prayer warriors and love angels!
Brandon is currently having a massive life threatening surgery. I ask that we all flood him with love, prayers and healing energy.
Some details about the surgery:
He will have 3 large incisions from this surgery. One in the abdomen, one in his left leg and one in his right leg. They will remove the staph infected bypass and hematoma first, then will get the vein from his right leg to use for the bypass on his left. The surgical team have blocked out the whole day for surgery.
We are praying that all goes to plan, that this provides a long term solution to this issue and that he will be back doing all the things he loves very soon.
Again, thank you for all of the donations, love and support. You all are truly amazing.
Brandon’s got this!! 🙌
Please like, share, love etc to spread the word 🙏
Side note: I really feel in my heart that this is the answer we have been searching for. Using his own vein instead of prosthetic feels so right 🤍
Love you all.

GO FUND ME UPDATE
We took Brandon to see a vascular surgeon in Melbourne on Thursday because since being back in Australia for the past few weeks he’s progressively gotten worse. The surgeon was worried about the hematoma in his leg, the fact that his incision was bleeding and he was getting a fever every afternoon.
He told us to take him to Monash hospital immediately. After a bunch of tests and lots of concerned doctors, he was diagnosed with a Staph infection in his blood and a pseudo-aneurysm (a hole) in his femoral artery which could implode any time and cause him to bleed out. All very scary.
They admitted him and started him on antibiotics immediately. Now they are trying to figure out a plan of action because this means his femoral artery bypass has been infected and must go… so they need to undergo another huge surgery to save his leg again and remove the infected hematoma and bypass.
The surgery should happen sometime this week. We live in Albury, so 4 hours away from the hospital. I drove back to Albury to get our son, my work computer so I can attempt to continue working and some more clothes etc. We will be driving back to Melbourne soon to be with Brandon.
He is feeling a bit better since being on antibiotics but still has a fever at times. His right shoulder is also causing a lot of pain which they think could be septic arthritis, but this isn’t confirmed yet. Either way, we have a long road ahead and are unsure of what will happen next. We appreciate all of your incredible donations, love and support so much.

One of my favourite things is seeing people connect in meaningful ways.

It’s simple. We often take the most incredible things for granted.
Tell me… what are you grateful for? Feel into that one thing. Emotions are welcome ☁️
